Response to "What is 'Theonomy'?" by Dr. Greg L. Bahnsen

An article entitled "What is 'Theonomy'?" was sent to me by a youtube user who asked quite nicely for my thoughts regarding it. I have reposted my response here in the hopes that anyone involved with or considering becoming involved with the ideas of Theonomy will take into account this Biblical perspective. Hopefully, this post is clear enough that it will not be necessary to read the original article in order to understand the arguments involved, but in case you wish to, here is the address of the article to which I am responding: http://www.cmfnow.com/articles/pe180.htm Thank you for your message and I read Dr. Greg L. Bahnsen’s essay as soon as I received it from you and I’ve taken some time to think about it. I’ll tell you at the outset that the first few paragraphs I was agreeing with it but as soon as he said that national Israel was no longer the heir to God’s promises, I had to disagree. The covenants of God are eternal and God has not forsaken or ‘redefined’

Cut Flowers Are Dead

I'm always searching for new ways to express not only the Gospel itself but man's need for the Gospel of grace through Jesus Christ. I often contemplate in relation to myself and my own experience, and I realize that for a long time I didn't understand my need for the Gospel or its power to really transform my life. When I did get an inkling of both my need and its power, I received it by faith. Before that, as someone raised nominally Christian, I only gave my mental assent to key statements, that is, I decided to agree that Jesus died for my sins and rose again for my justification. This most important thing I did not understand: that He died not just to forgive my transgressions but to enable me to receive by faith His Spirit, who transforms the believer progressively into the image of Christ (2 Cor 3:18) and gives the power to preach the Gospel and walk in daily victory over sin. He died to break the bonds of sin around me (Rom 7:14), to set me, the captive, free (Isai

Evangelism Tip #2: Conquering Islam in One Easy Step!

Hello again! I know I haven't properly introduced myself yet, so let me just say quickly that I am for the purposes of this blog, an evangelist. That is to say, GOD's call upon my life is to share the Gospel however I may, and since GOD does not leave His people unequipped for the task He calls them to, I have been given a number of insights into how to effectively evangelize. Little did I know, GOD was preparing me for this work even long before I was born again, as you can see when you consider that I earned a university degree in Religious Studies! That includes all religions of the world, so I am able to speak to people of all different backgrounds and express to them the exceeding superiority of Christ. In fact, all religions are more or less the same, but the born-from-above believer in JESUS CHRIST, saved by His Grace through His gift of faith to you or I, is not a religious person but a person in Relationship with GOD through His Only Begotten Son, JESUS. This rel

Evangelism Tip #1: Why Would You Think Hell Isn't Real?

Sometimes when evangelizing you may encounter people who claim that they do not believe in hell. This is an objection that I feel needs to be overcome as soon as it is raised, since how can such people come to the realization that they need the Saviour? If the wages of sin are not death (see Rom 6:23, Rev 20:14. 21:8), ultimately, then what is there to be saved from? Even if such a person believes in Heaven and even GOD, how can they possibly be led to a relationship with GOD through Jesus Christ if they will not acknowledge the reality of their sin and their lost state as sinners? Some people are reachable by speaking of the benefits of Christ, and to these people it is perhaps not necessary to speak about hell. I am not advocating necessarily bringing it up in every evangelism effort, but when someone denies the reality of hell, tear down that foolishness pronto and bring it captive into obedience to Christ (2 Cor 10:5)! Just a reminder of some of the benefits in Christ first:
